Are you eligible for a sponsored (free) position?

Through the generous support of Resilience Canopy Partners, we offer sponsored (free) training places to people who are committed to applying the training with a chosen community.

To be eligible for a sponsored place, you will need an active
Canopy Community Profile set up in Canopy House and demonstrate a commitment to walking alongside this community.  If you’re not sure whether your community is suitable or the profile is complete, please contact us to discuss.

Priority for sponsored places is given to communities located within partner-supported Local Government Areas (LGAs). However, community members from other locations are also encouraged to apply and may be eligible for sponsorship.

You can apply for a sponsored place during the Step 1 registration process. We will be in touch to confirm eligibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I do a make up session / What if I miss one of the sessions?
Unfortunately, we cannot arrange a make-up session if you miss one session, as the training has been customised to suit the needs of the cohort you train with over the four sessions. Talk to your friendly trainer at the time if a personal emergency arises.
Why is the training free for some and not others?
To help reach the communities that need it most (such as being at high risk of disaster, or have low social-economic opportunities) the training is sponsored by the Minderoo Foundation and other partners.  Pay to participate options are available for other interested individuals that might not meet the conditions of being ‘at risk’ or don't have a community and more interested in professional development. There may be options to seek partners and sponsors for community members to undertake training. Get in touch to see how we might help.
The dates and locations don't suit me. Will you consider running training in my town?
Yes! Submit an expression of interest with your preferred months and options for location and the Canopy Team will schedule future training locations based on those preferences.  If you have a group of 12 or more, get in touch with us and we can arrange a date and place directly. Email training [at] resiliencecanopy [dot] com [dot] au
Are group bookings or specialised training available?
We welcome interest from larger groups or specialised sessions for communities, groups or organisations of 15 or more.  Get in touch so we can explore options.
Can multiple people from the same community do the training?
Yes, multiple registrations (2–3 people) from a single community or group are welcome and encouraged.  Having a 'buddy' to support you on the journey can help with overall success.
Do I need to live in the training location?
You don't need to live or have a chosen community in the location where the training you want to attend is being held. All are welcome regardless of location.
Does applying for a sponsored place guarantee eligibility, and is there any commitment involved if I'm successful?
Applying does not guarantee eligibility; confirmation comes when you receive and accept a booking offer. If successful, you need to accept the Terms and Conditions.
